Rumor Has It Pt. II

This goes in the “Oh no they didn’t” or “what were they thinking” file. Rumor has it that on “black” Friday Kmart and Sears, were so moved by compassion for the citizens of Decatur that they approved many and I mean many people for store credit cards. The recipients of the credit card were not the usual pretty good credit type shoppers. Oh no! These credit card recipients were from the lower echelon of the credit scale.

As the rumor spread throughout the inner city of the generosity of Sears and Kmart, many of the lowly, disenfranchised, and non-mobile shoppers forged their way to the two promised lands successfully navigating the customer service counters to hit the JACKPOT. Many of the credit challenged and unemployed were rewarded with … Are you ready for this $2300-5000!

In the check out line shoppers reported hearing the beneficiaries boldly proclaiming "I ain't paying this back" and they (Sears and Kmart) were dumb enough to give me a credit card. Needless to say the inventory of plasma, LCD and DLP televisions were depleted. Then the electronics were hit next. The term “black” Friday has a new special meaning to Decatur. What say you?

The only thing black will be the ware-houses...pitch black from being robbed by greedy people.

I agree, the K-Mart corporation was excessively foolish allowing people with poor credit risk to obtain credit cards with limits as high as that. Someone will be fired...perhaps many people will be fired.

The next question is, will the credit companies come after the people that don't pay their bill? Perhaps reposses, garnish wages...all that costs money. Will people go to jail?

I remember when I was younger, I worked for a retail store. The manager would not allow anyone without a credit card to even write a check, unless the bank could be called and the sale amount verified as being available for a transaction. How could a company give out credit cards to individuals with poor credit history?

It doesn't make sense.

My biggest issue is not with the people (both black and white...let be clear here - both have bad credit history issues) who thought they saw a "golden egg" of an opportunity and full forcefully went crazy in their purchases because I believe some of those people will pay their bills while others who's desire is to know nothing but "FREE" will not realize the impact of their actions until the legal system becomes involved and they realize that even "FREE" is bought with a price.

MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS WITH SEARS/KMART!! THE SMELL OF THIS GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY HAS THE SMELL OF AN ROTTEN EGG. WHAT WAS THEY THINKING!! YOU KNOW THEY HAD TO HAVE A REASON TO GIVE CARDS WITHOUT CREDIT CHECK WITH LIMITS OF $1,000 TO FROM WHAT I HEARD, $10,000. WHO DOES THAT...RENT A CENTER?? LET'S EXPLORE THAT...

It appears that Sears and Kmart made an extremely poor business decision. I really like the rotten egg comment.
